Fundamentals of News Reporting

Fundamentals of News Reporting is a 7-month course designed to help journalists enhance or radically transform their media content for the better. The program covers both basic and advanced aspects of media content management and offers insights on maintaining a healthy newsroom atmosphere, retaining staff, and avoiding burnout.
The course is divided into 5 modules. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of news reporting and its complexities, learn about explanatory journalism, editorial work, and how to produce in-depth stories. A separate module focuses on branding—how to build a reputation, promote your media, and optimize it for Google.
Participants will also develop a capstone project aimed at transforming the content of their media, introducing new sections, or making other impactful changes.
For whom?
Journalists and editors with at least three years of experience.

Online and offline.
Twice a week, in the evening, plus intensives.

Certificate:
After successful completion of each course, participants receive a certificate issued by Kyiv Media School, which is a proof of the acquired skills and competencies.

Capstone project:
Participants will develop and defend a capstone project aimed at innovating and improving the content of their media, such as launching a new section, revamping social media strategies, or changing editorial practices. Completion and defense of this project are mandatory for course completion.
